Fiume side-entry bath: plan the whole route
Fiume, a bath presented by Bathroom Design for older bathers, put an access door in the tub wall. The useful design question is how that opening works with the rest of the room.

Start at the bathroom door
Draw the route from the room entrance to the bath opening before choosing a tub position. A washbasin, toilet or storage unit can leave a bath door technically reachable but awkward to approach. Mark where a person will stand or position a mobility aid, where the bath door opens, and whether the room door interrupts that space. Use the plan above to trace this route through the room.
The side-entry idea avoids stepping over the full height of a conventional bath wall. It does not remove the need to check the actual step at the door, the clear opening, the height and location of a seat, and the way a person gets back out. Those details depend on the selected product and the person who will use it.
Check the bathing sequence
Trace the use of the bath in order: enter, close and seal the door, reach the controls, fill, bathe, drain, open and leave. Confirm the manufacturer's required water level before the door can be opened, the drain time, and how the door seal is inspected or replaced. Place taps and shower controls where they can be used from the intended seated or standing position.
Allow practical space for a towel, dry clothes and any helper without crowding the opening. Specify a floor finish and drainage arrangement that work when the area outside the tub gets wet. The U.S. Access Board's room plans illustrate the interaction among fixture clearance, seating and door swing; use local building rules and the chosen bath's installation instructions for actual dimensions.
Before ordering
Ask for a dimensioned drawing showing the bath footprint, door swing, clear opening, threshold, seat, controls, plumbing connections and service access. Put that drawing over a measured room plan and test the full sequence with the intended user. If the route or waiting time does not work, a level-entry shower or another bathing arrangement may suit the room better.
