How to estimate your home electricity bill
Back to calculator ↑Find your units on the bill
Look for the units used on your latest bill and enter that figure. If hot-season use is very different, try both months to see the range.
What a unit of electricity costs
A typical home (class 1.2) pays these tiered rates, before the service charge, Ft and VAT.
- 1–200 units: 3.0000 baht per unit
- 201–400 units: 4.1584 baht per unit
- 401 units and above: 4.3583 baht per unit
- Service charge: 24.62 baht per month
- Ft for September to December 2026: 16.23 satang per unit
Units are charged by tier. Not every unit is billed at the highest rate.
Standard meter or TOU
TOU charges by time of day. On-peak is 09:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday, at 5.7982 baht per unit. Other times are off-peak at 2.6369 baht per unit, before Ft and VAT. The calculator shows the on-peak share below which TOU is cheaper. Homes that use most electricity at night and at weekends are more likely to benefit.
Limits
This is an estimate at the current rates. Ft can change every four months, and a real bill can differ a little because of billing dates, discounts or subsidies. Check the conditions for changing meters with MEA or PEA first.
Common questions
How much is electricity per unit in Thailand?
A typical home starts at 3.0000 baht per unit for the first 200 units, before Ft and VAT. The real average is higher once the service charge, Ft and VAT are included.
Is TOU worth it?
It depends on how much you use during on-peak hours. Enter your units and on-peak share to see both bills and the point where TOU becomes cheaper.
Why doesn't this match my bill exactly?
A real bill can vary with billing days, subsidies and other charges. Use this calculator for planning.
